C)  It is currently the largest, natural stand of native California Fan palms in the world.

Palm Canyon is one of three main oases (Palm, Andreas, and Murray canyons) that make up the Indian Canyons located in south Palm Springs. Palm Canyon stretches for 16 miles, however you can experience the main grouping of native Washingtonia filifera palms within about the first mile of the trail. This natural area is home to a healthy and diverse population of native flora and fauna. On a typical spring outing in any of these canyons you have a great chance of encountering glimpses of the abundant wildlife that make these canyons their home; however there are no known bobcat or reptile studies currently fielded in this area.
