C) As a food condiment
Many wildflowers were utilized as a food source by Native Americans. When used for this purpose, several different wildflower seeds were harvested, prepared, and added to meals or combined with other seeds. The seeds of mallow species were often used as a condiment to enhance the flavor of plant and/or animal based meals.
*Caliso Learning does NOT recommend ingesting plants in any manner as careful species identification, individual reactions, and the pharmacology of species are continuously changing variables that should not be gambled with casually.
