Pledge to Protect Earth Day Celebration, April 21, 2007
Yucca Valley Community Center
Caliso Learning joined in the Hi-Desert Nature Museum's Earth and Conservation Fair held at the Yucca Valley
Community Center. Festivities included community booths, art faire, famer's market, book sale, education
activities, artists booths, and live entertainment. Visitors to the Caliso booth made a "Rock Solid" promise to the
planet on a rock that they took home as a special reminder of their day and their promise to the earth. After
choosing a rock, participants wrote one to two words, or a symbol, as their pledge to protect the planet. Part of
The Third Rock their promise was to discuss their topic with family and friends when they got home! Some visitors also created
their own "Rocku" poetry by arranging pre-made pebbles in honor of our planet's beauty.

Animal Samaritans Walk With the Animals
Stamp Out Animal Cruelty, April 28, 2007
Palm Desert Community Park

Caliso Learning was proud to participate in this year's A.S.'s Walk With the Animals campaign to Stamp Out Animal Cruelty. Walk-a-thon, blessing of the animals, pets welcome, pet adoptions, silent auction, pet micro-chipping, activities and demos were a part of the festivities, all to raise awareness and educate the community about the humane treatment of animals. Children and their families who visited the Caliso Learning booth took home their very own "Pebble Pal" that they created and named. It is hoped that these special pebble pals served as a fun reminder of the day, and will continue to bring awareness to the care and protection of all animals. Be sure to visit the Pebble Pal Pet Park below! [BACK TO TOP]

18th Annual Idyllwild Earth Fair: Awakening a Sense of Wonder
May 19, 2007
Caliso Learning proudly participated in the Idyllwild Earth Fair. Many vendors, non-profit groups, government agencies and green businesses participated. Each shared a unique message promoting living green, existing in harmony with nature, and taking action. We gave away over 100 "treecycled" tree cookie necklaces on which participants wrote their environmental pledges. Visitors also had a chance to learn about the pine bark beetle and the science of dendrochronology and how it relates to changes in climate. We would like to acknowledge Caliso friends Laura Huff and Joshua Hedgecock for all their hard work throughout the day, thank you! Here are some photos from the day.
